On February 16, 2026, Eileen Gu finished second in the women's freeski big air competition at the Milan Cortina Winter Olympics. She scored 90.00 on her first run, 61.25 on her second (after failing to cleanly grab her ski tail and landing shakily), and 89.00 on her third run, for a combined total of 179.00. Canada's Megan Oldham won gold with a 1.75-point advantage; Italy's Flora Tabanelli took bronze.
With this silver medal and her earlier slopestyle silver from these Games, Gu now has five career Olympic medals (two golds and three silvers), making her the most decorated female freestyle skier in Olympic history. She is tied with Canada's Mikael Kingsbury for most freestyle skiing medals overall. Gu has not competed in big air since winning gold at the 2022 Beijing Olympics.
Gu, who was born and raised in San Francisco and attends Stanford University, began competing for China (her mother's birthplace) in 2019 after previously competing for the United States. She has one remaining event at these Games: halfpipe, with qualifiers starting February 19.
