On Tuesday, February 17, 2026, Reform UK leader Nigel Farage held a press conference in London to announce his party's first senior appointments, which he called a "shadow cabinet" despite Reform being the fifth-largest party in Parliament with only 8 MPs. He named four individuals to spokesperson roles: Robert Jenrick (economics/treasury), Richard Tice (business, trade, and energy), Zia Yusuf (home affairs and migration), and Suella Braverman (education, skills, and equalities).
Jenrick and Braverman are both recent Conservative defectors who served in previous Tory governments. Jenrick held ministerial positions including immigration minister and exchequer secretary. Braverman served as Home Secretary from September 2022 to November 2023 under Prime Ministers Liz Truss and Rishi Sunak, being sacked twice from the role.
At the event, Braverman stated she would repeal the Equality Act and abolish the equalities minister role on "day one" of a Reform government. She characterized DEI policies as "prejudice against white people" and said she would ban "social and gender transitioning" in all schools. Jenrick pledged to oppose what he called "decades of mismanagement" of the economy. Tice promised to end net zero policies and focus on fossil fuels. Yusuf vowed to dramatically cut both legal and illegal migration.
Farage emphasized he retains final authority on all policy decisions and warned he would not tolerate dissent or disloyalty from team members. He said the appointments show Reform is no longer a "one-man band" and is preparing for government, noting the party has led in opinion polls consistently since April 2025.
