Tyler Reddick won the 2026 Daytona 500 on Sunday, delivering the first-ever win in NASCAR's biggest race for 23XI Racing, the team co-owned by Michael Jordan and Denny Hamlin since 2020. Reddick led only the final lap after a chaotic finish that saw multiple crashes, including one involving leader Chase Elliott on the final stretch. Jordan celebrated emotionally in victory lane, bear-hugging Reddick and lifting the Harley J. Earl Trophy together.
The win came approximately two months after Jordan's federal antitrust lawsuit against NASCAR was settled on the ninth day of trial in December 2025. The lawsuit, which 23XI Racing filed along with Front Row Motorsports, challenged NASCAR's charter system and revenue-sharing model. The settlement resulted in changes to how NASCAR distributes revenue to teams and grants permanent charters. Before the race, Jordan stated both sides needed to move forward: "Both sides have been somewhat at a stalemate and we both needed to have conversations about change, how we can grow this sport."
Jordan, who turns 63 on Tuesday, attended races as a child with his father in North Carolina and formed 23XI Racing in 2020 after years of encouragement from Hamlin. The team has steadily improved since its debut at the 2021 Daytona 500, finishing fifth in team standings in both 2024 and 2025. This was the team's 10th Cup Series victory overall. Co-owner Hamlin, attempting to become only the fourth four-time Daytona 500 winner, finished 31st after a collision with nine laps remaining.
